Christina McGhee, O.D.

Dr. Christina McGhee (Goodrich) completed her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies at Wheaton College in Illinois in 2017 prior to graduating with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon in 2021. Her training included externships in primary care, ocular disease, and refractive surgery. She enjoys all aspects of patient care, and is particularly passionate about ocular disease, pediatric optometry, and myopia control.  

Her undergraduate degree incorporated Spanish, chemistry, and applied health science to culminate with a thesis on ocular health and nutrition in the US and Latin America. While at Pacific, she served as a student board member for the non-profit AMIGOS Eye Care, a chapter of VOSH International (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). In 2020, Dr. McGhee was honored to receive the Practice Excellence scholarship for clinical and academic performance from VSP Global and the American Academy of Optometry Foundation. She is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. 

As a Meadow Vista native, Dr. McGhee is excited to serve the community she calls home. When not seeing patients, you can find her traveling, cooking, and exploring the outdoors with family and friends.

Personal hobbies:  Anything outdoors!  I love hiking, traveling, and rowing.  I also enjoy cooking and baking, especially for family and friends. 

Family/children:  Husband Zane and two kitties! 

Where did your interest in optometry come from?  From a young age, I was drawn to healthcare.  Shadowing my own optometrist was what confirmed my desire to become one myself.  Bringing clear sight to others is a joy! 

Are there any industry specialties you have interest in focusing on down the road? I am very passionate about Myopia control and pediatric eye care.  I believe it is important for children to be set up for a lifetime of visual success.  I enjoy working with children and families to ensure healthy eyes and create the best vision solutions to match their lifestyles. 

What does being part of Auburn Optometry mean to you?  Auburn Family Optometry is a professional and caring family that I am blessed to be a part of.  We have a strong team mentality, advanced technology, and a deep commitment to our patients. 

What are you excited for in optometry during the years to come? I look forward to further research on nutrition and ocular health.  I am also excited to see advancements in Myopia Management. 

What’s your favorite thing about seeing patients? I enjoy forming connections with patients and answering questions about their eyes.  I want each patient to feel heard and cared for.
