CONTACT LENSES

The doctors at Auburn Family Optometry are both experienced in all types of contact lens fitting and care, including:

  • Disposable single vision and bifocal contact lenses
  • Daily and extended wear contact lenses
  • Planned replacement contact lenses
  • Toric soft contact lenses
  • Rigid gas permeable contact lenses
  • Toric gas permeable contact lenses
  • Mono-vision
  • Soft and rigid bifocal contact lenses
  • CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy)

Both doctors have been involved in clinical contact lens studies and have authored journal articles for ophthalmic literature on contact lens issues. Two previous studies were done on the Accuvue bifocal contact lens to asses two different soft bifocal contact lenses.  These studies involved approximately 100 patients who were very enthusiastic about the benefits of these lenses.

If you are interested in contact lenses or have quit wearing contacts in the past because of discomfort or poor vision, you may want to explore the many new options now available. It is now possible to fit patients with almost any amount of astigmatism, far-sightedness, nearsightedness and even those experiencing dry eyes.

If you love the idea of not having to wear glasses or contacts, but not comfortable with laser vision correction, consider CRT.  This involves reshaping the cornea with a rigid lens while you sleep.  Once full correction is achieved, retainer lenses are worn at night. The procedure is painless and is fully reversible.
